Canopy Crew

Garden Time employs program graduates in our “Canopy Crew” to maintain young street trees in low-canopy communities and to provide fee-for-service income for the organization. Canopy Crew members receive specialized advanced training and undertake critical components of urban forest environmental stewardship including street tree structural pruning, urban orchard caretaking, sidewalk pit maintenance, and watering.

“I feel like I’m a part of something that’s bigger than myself that’s gonna be around longer than I’m gonna be around. I feel like we don’t see what we’re doing right now but we are transforming this city and in 20 years from now the whole blueprint of Providence is going to change. They’re saying that in the next 10 years we’re gonna do 30,000 trees just in this city. So this is gonna look like a whole new place. I’m proud of that and I’m proud to be a part of that.”
