OpenDoors provides services and advocacy to people with criminal records. They can help you find a job; find stable and affordable housing; begin or continue substance abuse treatment; handle financial commitments such as court fines and child support; file your taxes; register to vote; apply for state IDs, food stamps, SSI, and other programs; connect with others who share similar experiences; and get involved and influence decisions that affect you.
Their walk-in resource center accepts drop-in visits from any formerly incarcerated person. They maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive file of resources in major life areas such as housing, employment, education, medical, mental health, substance abuse, and transportation. Clients can use their telephone or computer lab to communicate with employers, family members, and probation or parole officers. The resource center has a full schedule of programming, ranging from job readiness to financial literacy to support groups. They can also serve as a temporary address.
The Resource Center is currently open Monday through Friday from 9am – 4pm and occasionally on weekday evenings and for special events.
